Victoria Stewart

Born in the Scottish town of Dumfries in 1976 Victoria has been a full time painter for eight years. She loved art lessons- particularly drawing at school, but was really bitten by the painting bug when on a summer course in her teens. The tuition concentrated on painting in oils, and she was captivated, by the medium and the new world of textures it opened up. Victoria went on to study for a BSC Hon in Fashion and Textile design at the Scottish College of textiles in Scotland.

In 1999 Victoria moved to Birmingham to take up a position as a professional fashion designer. During this time she enjoyed regular travel, visiting suppliers and customers through out the UK, Italy and the United States. These experiences and imagery collected from travelling are expressed in her work using intense acrylic colours, incorporating various focal points within forms, pattern and texture. During this time Victoria continued to paint as a hobby alongside her work as a fashion designer.

 

Since turning professional eight years ago, Victoria has exhibited her floral and abstract paintings across the globe, displaying her work in both galleries and private collections, the most recent including John Lewis in London, The Midtown Artery in South Carolina, Mondo Arte in Dubai, Scotland Art in Edinburgh, Lane side Gallery N. Ireland and Art Couture Dubai.

 

Victoria has also exhibited her collections at many national and international trade shows, including Index in Dubai, The Spring Fair in Birmingham UK and Art Expo in New York.

 

Victoria takes her inspiration for her flower collections from the worlds landscapes and their ever-changing colours and shapes.  Incorporating the vibrant and textured features into the paintings through the use of thick brushes, pallet knives and acrylics.

 

Working largely with wide edge canvas, Victoria accepts commissions to create pieces of any size and colour.
